Avoid Long Lines at Dubai Airport: Emirates Installs 200 New Face-Recognition Cameras
Travelling through Dubai International Airport has become even quicker and more convenient. Emirates has deployed over 200 facial-recognition cameras throughout Terminal 3, enabling passengers to move from check-in all the way to boarding without needing to show a passport or mobile phone. This upgrade is part of an Dh85 million investment designed to improve passenger movement, cut down waiting lines, and create a smoother airport journey.
This advanced system, created in partnership with the General Directorate of Identity and Foreigner Affairs Dubai (GDRFA), uses high-precision facial-recognition technology. It can identify travellers from roughly one metre away, allowing them to continue walking without pausing at several checkpoints. Once a traveller is registered, they can breeze through check-in, immigration, Emirates lounges, and boarding gates simply by looking at the camera.
This fully automated biometric path enhances every Emirates flight experience, giving passengers a quicker, smarter, and more effortless trip through the airport.
This rollout reinforces Dubai’s commitment to offering one of the world’s most efficient and comfortable airport journeys for millions of passengers every year.
The biometric system aims to reduce repeated document checks and limit physical contact. Here’s what makes this initiative impressive:
Faster processing: Travellers can move through airport procedures in a fraction of the usual time, avoiding long lines.
Touch-free travel: Contactless processing improves both safety and comfort.
Connected procedures: The technology integrates every step—from check-in to final boarding.
Forward-thinking investment: With Dh85 million allocated, Emirates continues to push global standards in airport technology.
This upgrade marks a major leap toward the future of air travel—one that prioritises speed, security, and a seamless passenger experience.
